GPT resides at the end of the device. The space reserved at the beginning of a device is too tiny.

Evidently I will need to update my disk-cloning procedure at some point.


I'd no idea myself, but given it wasn't at the beginning, the end seemed the next plausible place, and writing 155 Gbytes is certainly quicker (and less embarrassing!) than exposing one's ignorance to the list:-)
