Hi All, EL5 claims to be fully compatible with binaries that were built on EL4 and 3. I doubt this to be true, because I have a library that was built on EL3 and linked with libperl.so. It no longer works on EL5. I get undefined symbol: PL_sv_undef Sure enough, this symbol does not exist in libperl on EL5. On both the EL3 and EL5 machine, the versions of Perl are 5.8.8.
I have a couple questions? 1) Why is libperl.so different between EL3 and 5, even though the Perl versions are the same? ( Even the size of the so is much different ) 2) Does anyone have a link to documentation that talks about this compatibility issue? ( I've googled and have not turned up anything useful ) I am new to this list, so sorry if it's not the correct list for such a question.
