Hey everyone, I have a 2 node active/passive-failover- Cluster with some applications on it. The clustersoftware is heartbeat (Linux-ha).
I have (besides the normal physical IP Adresses) 2 virtual IP-Adresses, both on the active server for compatibility reasons with the old setup. (routing, firewall-entries etc.)They appear in ifconfig as eth0:0 and eth0:1 and are handled by heartbeat All Applications are accepting connections to the virtual interfaces, but if they open connections their self, they use the physical addresses of the server they are running on. I would like to have a solution, where they "bind" to a specific virtual interface so that also outgoing traffic is sent over that interface. I read about the BINDTODEVICE socket Option, but as I'm a Linux-newbie and definitely not a programmer, is there an easier way to achieve this? If anyone could give me a hint, this would be nice.
