At one point with the f9 beta, when I had nothing of interest to do I got bored and isntalled and tried everything that looked like a wm.

Some didn't seem to me to be at useful.

I've use icewm on CentOS. If I want X on a Debian (server) I install fvwm, it's fairly handy to use through a VPN.
