Hello,
I'm running smartd on RHEL 5.2 on various HP DL380 G5's. One of them
also has a 3ware RAID controller.

I can monitor the cciss disks without problems. I can also monitor the
3ware disks without problems. When I try to monitor both types of RAID
controllers, things fall apart.

I noticed smartmontools website says cciss support was added in v5.37,
yet RHEL 5 includes v5.36 and cciss seems to work.

My config is as follows:
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,0 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,1 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,2 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,3 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,4 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/twa0 -H -p -l error -d 3ware,5 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/cciss/c0d0 -H -p -l error -d cciss,6 -m root -I 194 -I 231
/dev/cciss/c0d0 -H -p -l error -d cciss,7 -m root -I 194 -I 231

When I start up smartd, it says the cciss devices are SMART capable, but
then it says it cannot read the SMART values. If I comment out the twa0
entries, the cciss SMART values can be read properly.

The twa disks are monitored properly whether or not the cciss entries
are commented out. Has anyone run across a fix for this?

Thanks.

/Brian/
