So bear with me on this, I'm not even sure if this will work.

  - IBM DS4300 storage array
  - JS20 (POWER) running AIX was attached to a LUN on the array.
  - This blade was rebooted and reinstalled with RHEL5 PPC

The situation I'm in now is that the LUN on the array cannot be
restored because it's still marked as "Reserved" by a host. The
solution is to log onto the AIX host and detach it from the LUN :-)
Obviously this isn't possible because it's been wiped out.

I thought that perhaps I could do this from the RHEL5 host since it
theoretically should have the same WWN number on its HBA's as it did
before...

However, I'm not quite clear how to go about getting RHEL5 to tell the
array that it would like to release its reservation on the LUN. On
bootup, /dev/sda was attached to the system via FC automatically. I
was able to remove this:

# lsscsi
[0:0:0:0] disk IBM 1722-600 0520 /dev/sda
# echo "scsi remove-single-device 0 0 0 0"

lsscsi now returns nothing. However, the DS4300 still thinks the LUN
is "reserved".

Any fibre afficandos out there have any suggestions on this? The blade
has an IBM rebranded QLogic HBA in it -- ISP2312.

The IBM DeveloperWorks forums aren't working correctly ATM, and we've
just purchased this array which was on loan from IBM and don't yet have
official support for it yet.

I found a method to clear out the reservation flag from the serial
console on the array, but am hoping I can tackle this from my RHEL5
host instead.

Thanks,
Ray
