That being said, there's always JPackage as a source of java stuff. I'm not sure how well it interoperates nowadays with RHEL5 (as RHEL5 java packages have been gcjd and there might be a dependency for the library in native format) but it works great on RHEL4.
The jpackage stuff works great but it's often behind on security level patches. I've had to update the SPEC (and send the patches upstream) for releases that are just changing the last minor number - Sun doesn't make their job easy, but you'd think a community effort like jpackage could stay more up-to-date than they do.
OpenJDK is in EPEL - I haven't tried it yet in any production environments. -Bill -- Bill McGonigle, Owner Work: 603.448.4440 BFC Computing, LLC Home: 603.448.1668 http://www.bfccomputing.com/ Cell: 603.252.2606 Twitter, etc.: bill_mcgonigle Page: 603.442.1833 Email, IM, VOIP: [email protected] Blog: http://blog.bfccomputing.com/ VCard: http://bfccomputing.com/vcard/bill.vcf _______________________________________________ rhelv5-list mailing list [email protected] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-list
