I'm moving users from a legacy FreeBSD server to one of Redhat 5.3 On the FreeBSD machine, the passwords are encrypted in blowfish. In what I'm reading, there is support for blowfish in a package called pam_unix2 available on Debian and Suse but not Redhat. DAG's RPM repository also has nothing.
Has anyone encountered a solution to support blowfish passwords on Redhat? Just pam support is sufficient, don't need to have passwd command generate the encryption. I found this disheartening fedora bug report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443898 Why doesn't Redhat compete with Suse and Debian for this flexibility? --Donald
