Hi folks,
I have a IBM Blade server with two Qlogic HBAs connected to IBM DS4700
storage array.
1. The server is currently running RHEL5.4 with kernel 2.6.18-164.el5.
2. I have enabled only one path from each HBA to the two FC ports of
the storage array.
3. The device multipath package I have installed is:
device-mapper-multipath-0.4.7-30.el5_4.2
4. Following is part of my multipath.conf file.
## IBM DS4700
device {
vendor "IBM"
product "1814"
getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n"
prio_callout "/sbin/mpath_prio_rdac /dev/%n"
features "1 queue_if_no_path"
hardware_handler "1 rdac"
path_grouping_policy group_by_prio
failback immediate
rr_weight uniform
no_path_retry 300
rr_min_io 1000
path_checker rdac
}
5. I have only one partition (boot disk) assigned to for the server at
the moment.
6. When I boot up the server and then disable path A, it automatically
fails over to the other path B and when path A is re-enabled, it flips
back properly.
My questions are;
1. Do I need to install the rdac package from LSI website or the
multipath RPM good enough to proceed with assigning more partitions
and configure DMpath?
2. Can I enable both paths from each HBA for a total of FOUR? (two
active/two passive). Searching on the web, I found articles saying it
is not supported natively.
Thanks in advance.
Win
