You know the MAC address of virtual NICs assigned to the guest, but libvirt doesn't know how those MAC addresses are being used (or not used or mis-used) inside the guest. jch
ESX manages it. ip addr manages it. All the traffic goes through a host for which the mac address(es) are known for the guest.
