Because your storage vendor told so. If your question is: "why I need to use an external driver and not the one provided by Red Hat?" I could speculate that is because you are using an active/passive configuration (I don't know if the DS4700 is an active/active or not) and Red Hat 4.x multipath cannot deal with an active/passive. > and why > HP Blade + HP EVA Storage don't use any addition plugins software to keep > server + storage connection?
