Dear members
From system security point to view I want to prohibit 'linux rescue'
mode in my installed RHEL system. Because as per my knowlege through
linux rescue mode anyone who have physical access to system can mount
root filesystem(/) and retrieve all data without knowing root
password. Please guide should i encrypt / or any alternative
Set a grub password.

Unfortunately that's not very effective. If I have access to the
machine and can boot of CD/DVD, I can just mount the partitions
manually, never going through GRUB.

As other's have noted, physical control of the machine is key. Unless you either encrypt the drives, you have no real alternative.
