I've prefaced the subject with Veritas because this is about resizing Ext3 that is managed by VCS. I've use Veritas primarily on Solaris with UFS and VxFS and only sparingly run into it on Linux with VxFS.
In a nutshell, I have a customer that wants to grow their Ext3 file system on a VCS volume. Just found out "vxresize" does not support resizing Ext3 on-line. Yeah, the customer was surprised that it was Ext3 as well (they thought it was VxFS too). I assume I cannot just add a subdisk to a plex and resize the underlying volume, then run resize2fs for the Ext3 file system in that volume. I assume there's more locking going on between the volume manager and resize2fs. I.e., resize2fs works automagically when Ext3 is in [C]LVM, but I assume I'll run into issues if I try to run resize2fs when the Ext3 file system is on a Veritas volume/plex, correct? I've been in and out of various knowledge bases, and would just like verify this. -- Bryan J Smith Professional, Technical Annoyance Linked Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/bjsmith _______________________________________________ rhelv5-list mailing list rhelv5-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-list
