I think initial general question could have been:

suppose I take a stock rh el 5.5 + httpd and a stock rh el 6beta2 + httpd
Which one does perform better? How differently?

So I think it is ok to use different versions of httpd (the ones
provided/tested with the correspondant os)
The question remains about the benchmark itself, taht I thing should
be the same across the tests.... and run from a third server.
