The net result has been the disgrace of the U.S. world-wide as a nation that no longer respects even its own Constitution, let alone the accords that have been established during the last century to lead the world through example, inducement, and coercion in extreme cases, towards respect for law. All of us who work in the fields of Constitutional or international law are appalled by this miscarriage of justice here and abroad -- and its pitiful failures even to accomplish its alleged goal of suppressing/punishing terrorists! This action is grounds for impeachment of a presidency that fails to rule by law and which commits the highest of crimes and misdemeanors with no apparent awareness of the destructive consequences of its actions.
