That would be assuming that the individual writing the original
message speaks only one particular language? I'm not clear how
computer translators work or if spell check does the same thing
in other countries as it does here. Some times I get flogged by
Brits for using a particular spelling of a word that they do not
spell the same way as American's spell it yet I thought that we
both spoke English. This has caused me to spell things THEIR way
when I am communicating with them to keep the peace so to speak.
I'm a terrible speller personally and you will notice that verity
when I don't have access to a spell check.

The letter sounded like a personal message passed on to what
might be a friend of the senders and not something that was
intended to be a news article. Trying to determine its
authenticity might be akin to trying to determine an individual's
sincerity. I have seen Fallujah spelled so many ways that I have
no clue as to its legitimate spelling but I have seen it on maps
spelled Falluja written in English. On another map written in
Arabic.. it is spelled Al Fallujah.

Doesn't the message state that it is from Carol? Why not ask
Carol if she is the source? Sounds and looks like a pretty
American name and time stamp to me though.

       From: "carol "
       Date: Tue Nov 16, 2004 2:57 am
Subject: Letter from Iraq- "worse than Saddam"

But alas... carol is just the editor of said message
because it is signed off by Mariam! Ta da... the SOURCE... now
onward in the journey to find Mariam.

One should also consider the alphabet. Is the English spelling
of an Iraqi
place name going to be a big deal for someone who normally
speaks another
language and uses a different alphabet?
