store shelves. They get there because there are holes in the consumer product
safety net. Tell Congress to ensure product safety.

companies
Don't wait til your manufactured home purchase goes
wrong to find out that many other consumers had already filed complaints
against this retailer or lender. Tell your state to make information about
complaints against manufactured home companies public.
Tell the Fed to Protect Consumers From High Cost
"Bounce Loans" In a costly 1-2 punch on consumers, banks are cashing in by
aggressively marketing "bounce protection" loans with triple digit interest
rates on the heels of the new Check 21 law.
Restore the trust: Stop Congress from derailing
accounting rules
Under seemingly mundane accounting rules, companies are
not required to count the costs of stock options as an expense on their
accounting statements, resulting in inflated profits and skewed information for
investors.
Prevent the spread of mad cow disease
Mad cow disease, recently discovered in the U.S., can
pass from one animal to another and to humans who consume beef. Tell the
Secretary of Agriculture and the Commissioner of the Food and Drug
Administration to prevent mad cow disease from entering the food supply.
Stop hospital infections
Help us give consumers information about which
hospitals do the best job preventing infections. Ask your state legislators to
make hospital-acquired infection rates public.
Mandate public information about all drug trials
Drug companies don't have to publish results of
clinical trials that reflect badly on the drug. Ask Congress to create a public
registry for all clinical trials and mandate reporting of the trial findings.
Pay only for the cable channels you want
Tell Congress that you are serious about getting real
cable choice, and not just the expensive package of channels you're currently
forced to buy. Cable rates have increased at three times the rate of inflation,
and most of us have only one cable company from which we can buy our
programming.
Rewrite FCC media ownership rules
A recent court decision overturned the FCC's lax media
ownership rules that would have allowed media conglomerates to own even more TV
stations and local newspapers. Tell President Bush and the FCC to adopt new
rules that promote our democratic values!
Put the cap on gasoline prices
Gasoline prices have risen to record levels, averaging
over $2 per gallon nationwide for regular unleaded. One big reason why --
there isn't enough competition in the oil and gas industry. Tell President
Bush to take action now to bring gasoline prices down.

legislators to record their key votes on bills--including important consumer
