-------He's right, you know. I liked Dean from the beginning I know it's
like saying, "I knew that", when somebody makes a fool out of you, but I knew
that. It wasn't me that picked Kerry, but I bought into the philosophy that
Kerry was the only one who could beat Bush. And he might have been. I'm not

Monday morning quarterbacking. Wait. I take that back. I AM into Monday
morning quarterbacking.
I'm so into it that I can see all the way back into the New Deal. Wait. I
can almost see back to Hoover. It takes a crystal ball, and a little
foresightedness, same thing, I guess. Well, here goes, I'm going to paraphrase
Dean.
If you take the power away from Washington, and give it to the people (who
have had it all the time), this country has evolved from a few white property
owners to power to the people. Forget all the slogans and important-sounding
bills, and remember the movements, and/or the people. This is how Democracy
works---not by elections, but by movements that governments are not allowed to
stop.
1. Tom Paine: These Are The Times That Try Men's Souls
2. Patrick Henry: Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death
3. John Brown: Harper's Ferry
4. Harriet Stokes: Uncle Tom's Cabin started the Civil War
5. Sojourner Truth
6. Underground Railroad
7. Women's Suffragette Movement
8. Union Movement
9. Pete Seeger, sorry my own personal favorite
10. Rosa Parks. ROSA PARKS?
11. Jane Fonda. JANE FONDA
12. The Dixie Chicks: THE DIXIE CHICKS?
13. U-2
14. Springsteen
15. Eugene McCarthy
16. Bobby Kennedy, a few tears shed here, as always
17. Gloria Steinem
18. Jose Marte- Guantanamera
19. Fidel Castro-Well, he stood up to the Pacific Fruit Company
20. Luiz Guiteriz, local Chicago Latino Leader
21. Rev Willie Barrow, Turned 80 today, female officer Operation Push
22. This is left blank for all those who worked and sweated for this
democracy
These are the people with the power. These are the people who moved this
nation.
