It is all too easy to call them liars when you do not agree with their
conclusions. Most are academics. The debate long ago became academic and
Karsh has accused some, like Bennie Morris, of fabricating history. Many
historians also accused Howard Zinn of fabricating history. It depends on
which side you are on.

There nationalism developed late - but so has the nationalism among Arab
nation-states who pre-WWI only knew the Caliphate who was a supreme leader
but since nation-states and dividing territory up to establish spheres of
influence by the west also gave rise to Islamism, the violent rejectionism
manifested today by groups like al-Qaeda (and Wahhabism) and Ikhwan, et al
and the results have been obvious. The rise of the Muslim Brotherhood,
HAMAS, and other anti-West, anti-Israel Islamic extremism and terrorism.
That is one component. The other is one we should recognize as an
unrelenting desire to be totally autonomous and some moderates (and there
are some) want it to be in a state alongside Israel.

Others, of course want to bury us, but the distinction must be made.
