Typical rightist hate. Yet again, Dafna Yee manages to "turnspeak" so effectively one is left aghast. Firstly, "land that Israel paid in blood for"? I look at the statistics and conclude that the Palestinians have paid much, much more in blood - and they have been willing - by acknowledging Israel's existence - to write that blood unjustly shed off. Secondly, the Palestinian Authority - which for a time was the interim Palestinian government - is primarily concerned with Palestine and Palestinians, surprise, surprise! Why on earth would they go out of their way to discuss anyone else? Does the US Constitution discuss Canada, for goodness sake? Or Mexico? Does the French Constitution discuss the Federal Republic of Germany? Does the German Constitution discuss Denmark? And since Israel is the self-declared Jewish state, why should the Palestinian State grant Jews automatic right of entry - since most of the settlers sound like a mixture of Wild West gunmen and Ku Klux Klan? As far as the comment that "Arabs don't consider the killing of non-Muslims murder", for pity's sakes, show me the sura in the Quran where it says that, and explain the whys and wherefores of it, including its historical situation, and then explain why Jews survived so long in Muslim Spain, if that was the case. And climbed so high that many of the best poetry from that time happens to be Jewish. And why shouldn't the Palestinians have a "right of return"? If Jews have a right of return after 2000 years, why shouldn't the Palestinians after 50 years? And finally, if you don't understand "jihad", shut up. The word derives from a root meaning "concerted effort, striving", and regretfully I don't know enough historical Semitic linguistics to be able to say with certainty what its Hebrew, Akkadian, Babylonian, or Aramaic cognates are. It's developed a "religious war" connotation, all right, but that's hardly its sole meaning. And in the context of the Bush declaration of a Crusade against Terrorism meaning Islam, I'd say that a declaration of Jihad as self-defense, is perfectly justified. And of course, the "Arabs, including their children, weren't taught to hate and kill Israelis ...". Again, statistics comes to the fore. How many Israelis were and are being killed during the Second Intifada, and how many Palestinians? How many Palestinians' deaths are reported by the Western media, versus how many Israelis'? And whose deaths are dismissed as being unimportant because "they don't value life"? So, who's teaching hate? And why would the Palestinians need to teach hatred, when the IDF does it so, so much more effectively? Being occupied does that to one, don't you know, Dafna Yee? Or didn't you pick that little detail out of your studies in Jewish history? And surprise surprise, the US Army is learning that lesson in the most unpleasant way in Iraq. I could go indepth into her inability to examine her own beliefs, but what would be the point. It'd degenerate into a slanging match with no end in sight. Dafna Yee's hate is as strong as ever; it's as monotonous as ever; it pays as little attention to reality as ever. I suppose it's not surprise she's still around.
