Does anyone have any thoughts about this? It has been suggested that any excuse will do. What about that? Or it could even be contrived? An attack on the U.S. just before the election and it gets postponed. I bought the DVD, "Fog of War" about Robert MacNamara and his feelings about war and the wars he has had a hand in. It was fascinating. He said Kennedy was ready to bring all the troops home .. He had recommended it and they brought home 1,000 of the 16,000 that were there and planned to bring home the rest over the next year or two, but after he was assassinated and Johnson took over, the new president, another Texan, could not bear to lose and they manufactured the Tonkin Bay incident which he said at the time was just a confused mess -- and under his tenure as Secretary of Defense they were to lose 25,000 soldiers but he later realized the biggest problem with the war was the failure to communicate with each other. Neither side understood the other side and I think we are in the same place in Iraq and elsewhere. Bush's failure to communicate with Saddam and with the Taliban led to two unnecessary wars. I'm also convinced that Bush had no intention to communicate and we all know that the war was a contingency long in planning and short in implementation. - - I don't have time to write much about this now because I'm installing a secure certificate for my wife's blackhills business at http://blackhillsg0ld.com (crass commercialization - grin) -- but I really am busy and she says the business must come first for a few days if I expect that business to pay for my dedicated server and three domains and all the other expenses that go along with maintaining these sites.
