Hank, You say Kerry will end the war. Are you serious? Remember, Johnson and Nixon both campaigned to end their war and then increased the fighting after election. "John Kerry says he can "put a deal together" as president to drastically reduce U.S. troop strength in Iraq, a pledge reminiscent of Richard Nixon's secret plan to end the Vietnam War and Dwight D. Eisenhower's promise to stop fighting in Korea." (http://www.wjla.com/headlines/0804/163459.html).
Kerry now says he won't increase troops in Iraq? That's not what he was saying at the end of May. At that time, he was saying he'd be sending 40,000 more troops... Well not to Iraq, but to assist "anti-terror" efforts elsewhere. So troops won't be going directly to Iraq any more? They'll be going first to Afghanistan or the Phillipines and THEN to Iraq? This creative redeplyment of troops sounds strangely like Bush's actions as we heard from Gen. Franks. Relying on the actions of other countries is not a pledge of action. They can say no. Show me anywhere in print where Kerry has said "The war was wrong. I was wrong to give Bush the power to make this war. I will immediately withdraw troops." Making your plans contigent on the actions of others allows a president an easy out when things don't go his way. Do you think France and Germany will send troops unless we kick back some of the booty that Halliburton is currently taking?
