ALERT: AOL.COM subscribers

Some have contacted me because they HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVING MAIL from the
new list address: [email protected] (which is why I have gone back to
this old address at stjohns university to contact you....)

AOL.COM users:
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR SETTINGS.

That is why I hear from others that newsletters are
being blocked. It is because of this and because aol.com users do not know
how to unblock newsletters. It is frustrating for many I am sure who
were opt-in to receive mail and now can't understand why they are not
receiving mail they requested in the first place. I'll send this over
pnews-l to aol.com subscribers to alert them to the problem.

AOL.COM subscribers:
Go into your mail settings and TURN OFF PRE-SET SPAM SETTINGS.
Tell aol.com you will do your own choosing. This was something new they
threw at you. It doesn't even notify those who send you mail that they
can't. It is inappropriate, but many newbies wouldn't know that. It isn't
something you should tolerate from an ISP.

My other suggestion is to use a dialup like access4less.net which will
only cost you $4.95 or $5.95 and you can set your own spam controls or
take as many add-ons as you like and it is very dependable. Why pay more.
I use them as well as other low-cost dialups. Most today are under $12.00.
And switch to a better browser. Use foxfire. It is free and SAFER than
other browsers. Do regular spy/virus scans. See links at
http://pnews.org/PhpWiki/ and http://g0lem.net/PhpWiki/ for links to some
of these.

I would also like to hear from some of you who have had problems with mail
and have not been receiving the list at the new address at g0lem.net. Let
me know if this adjustment helps? Let me know what you would like to see
more of on the PNEWS-list (PNEWS-L) list, if not more of the same?

Happy New Year.
And by the way, if you have missed anything in PNEWS-list you can read the
archives.
