When using the provider directly, the insert works fine.

here was my test:

using (var conn = new
MySqlConnection("server=localhost;database=hampton_calendar;user=root"))
            {
                conn.Open();

                using (var cmd = conn.CreateCommand())
                {
                    cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO security_usersgroups
(Name, Parent, Id) VALUES (@name, @parent, @id)";
                    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("name", "Test");
                    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("parent", DBNull.Value);
                    cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("id", Guid.NewGuid());
                }

                conn.Close();
            }
