Corey, Ayende, Do either of you (or anyone else) have an opinion on this? After more thinking I am inclined that the fix should follow the Microsoft behavior described above for the binary formatter. I think this is what people would expect. Any which way, I definitely think the current functionality should be considered broken. Having a time deserialize to a totally different value that what was serialized is bad.
