Hello, Enhancement request has to addressed in bugzilla (bugzilla.gnome.org), in you case such request has already be done http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130426 IMO, a simple crossfading plugin shouldn't prevent you to switch entirely to Linux...
