Now that you have python plugin support I would love to see SoundConverter merged into a Rhythmbox plugin.
http://soundconverter.berlios.de/ They are currently working on a port to gstreamer 0.10 in SVN http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/soundconverter/branches/gstreamer-0.10/ Perhaps it could even be easier to write a file converter from scratch, however SoundConverter's features and interface are very good. Hopefully I will soon have the ability do such things, but right now I'm still learning.
