G'day everyone, I've just committed to cvs Adam Zimmerman's plugin from bug #345783 to support the MagnaTune online music store. The first time you go to the "Magnatune" source it may take a while to load, as it has to download the catalogue from the site.
For those who haven't heard of it before, MagnaTune[0] is an online music store which allows you to stream to all their music to listen to, and then buy anything you like in a non-DRM-encumbered format[1]. When you buy the music, you can also choose how much to pay for the album from $5 to $18 US), and 50% goes to the artist. They don't have big-name artists, but they do have some very cool music. The plugin works fine for several people (myself included), but there are some rough edges. If anyone checks it out, any comments on how it works, the interface, etc would be much appreciated. Known issues include: * Your credit-card details are currently stored unencrypted in GConf. I think putting them in Gnome-Keyring, and not even doing that unless you check a "please store by credit card details" option would be better. We don't really want random programs having access to them. * The tracks aren't put in your library according to your "library structure" prefs. * There is a popup "downloading" window. This can easily be gotten rid of when I finish my "task" work. * No buttons on the toolbar for "Artist info", "purchase", etc * no pause/resume when downloading * doesn't warn before cancelling download, or quitting when one is active [0] http://www.magnatune.com [1] you can download purchased tracks in Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, VBR MP3 or 128kbit MP3 Cheers, James "Doc" Livingston -- If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you. _______________________________________________ rhythmbox-devel mailing list [email protected] http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/rhythmbox-devel
