I am confident to have now a correct patch for enabling
browser-by-default for ipod/mtp-devices. See the bugzilla-entry:

It uses the impl_get_paned_key() impl_get_browser_key() methods of the
classes RBBrowserSource and RBSource. Sofar my testing with iPods and a
"Nokia N95" (acting as a mtp-device) were successful.
I decided against splitting up the browser-state per device-id, because
I like a consistent behavior better.
