I'd be interested to see these posts... The worst that can happen is that you lose all the music on the iPod and have to reformat it. But the iPod is still as usable as it was when it was new. I even flashed wrong firmware to an iPod a few years ago, and even after doing that, it was easy to restore it to working state. So you really shouldn't be afraid as long as you have backup of the music you put on the iPod.
