Sean, As things stand today you'll have to perform two range queries. Unless you want to query (xxxxxx1, yyyyyy9x) and filter out the superfluous results yourself, but somehow I don't think you want to do that.
I'm not aware of anything in the roadmap in 2i to query multiple ranges at once.
