That changed the error message but I am still not getting started.

The error indicates that the basho_bench erlang node failed to start
net_kernel because the node name was invalid. It looks like the
"basho_bench_measurement_erlangvm" module is looking for a "mynode" config
option to set the name during net_kernel start.

 

Can you try adding "{mynode, '[email protected]'}." to your basho_bench
config?
