Step 1. Put a4j:htmlCommandLink inside suggestionBox:

<a4j:htmlCommandLink
actionListener="#{sb.selectValue}" value="Click me!"/>
</h:column>
Step 2. Create selectValue method:
public void selectValue(ActionEvent actionEvent){
System.out.println("----inside selectValue(ActionEvent
actionEvent)-----");
}
Step 3. Call suggestionBox by enter a character into it's input.
Step 4. Click on "Click me!" link.
Actual behavior:
ActionListener isn't call.
