rich:comboBox breaks with a defaultLabel set.
If you remove defaultLabel or downgrade to richfaces 3.2.0.GA, it works as
expected.

selectFirstOnUpdate="false" defaultLabel="Select a site"
required="true" requiredMessage="You must select a site."
converter="#{SiteConverter}">
