In 4.1.0.M1, the list.js prototype was re-factored out of the popupList
prototype, to provide support for the PickList and OrderingList components. At
the time of this re-factoring, conditional logic was added to differentiate
bewtween multi/single select lists.
This conditional logic should be re-factored as an object hierarchy, to make
the code more maintainable, more robust, and more easily understood.
