[Ponder's News] Press Release: Love Won Out Conference Oct 25 Love Won Out to Celebrate 10th Anniversary by Sending Message of Hope to 440 Million Worldwide
God TV will record conference held at Focus on the Family on Oct. 25 October 21, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Focus on the Family's Love Won Out conference on homosexuality will be broadcast globally by the Christian network God TV, which will be in Colorado Springs to film the event's 10th anniversary celebration on Oct. 25. God TV reaches about 125 million homes across the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia - countries that are home to people who have contacted Focus on the Family with questions on homosexuality. "Homosexuality affects men and women from different countries and cultures," said Melissa Fryrear, director of Focus' gender issues department. "Yet the Bible's message to them remains the same: change is possible for those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction." Love Won Out's speakers - many of whom, like Fryrear, used to self-identify as gay or lesbian - present this message of hope through Scripture, research and by sharing their own stories of change. The speakers' unflinching honesty in relating the confusions, struggles and joys that accompany the journey out of homosexuality help ensure the tone of the conference is respectful and compassionate. This unique combination of truth and grace sets Love Won Out apart from many other conferences that deal with homosexuality, with its message drawing crowds as large as 1,800 at a time, as well as the occasional group of protestors. Love Won Out has succeeded in starting a national conversation on the origins of homosexuality, with a large portion of the debate playing out in the media. The conference routinely makes local headlines. It has also been profiled on national television magazine shows such as CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 and ABC's 20/20, and even played a role in this year's presidential campaign when the AP noted Gov. Sarah Palin's church was advertising Love Won Out's September visit to Alaska. "The platform God TV provides us is a dream come true and an answered prayer," said Fryrear. "I can't think of a better way to commemorate Love Won Out's first decade than celebrating the important milestone at home, while sharing our joy with the world." The Colorado Springs event marks LWO's 52nd U.S. conference. It will be held from 8 to 5:30 p.m. at the Focus on the Family campus, located at 8685 Explorer Drive. ### For more information, contact Monica Marti at (719) 548-5743 or culturalissues@ family.org. ============ === This press release was sent by: Shonda Ponder, Editor of Ponder's News http://www.geocitie s.com/ponderaa1/ index.html President of Citizen's Network Alliance [EMAIL PROTECTED] m.net 903-794-7241 (Home) 903-280-8263 (Cell) Yahoo ID: PonderAa1 ICQ# 493993849 Join the Alliance today!
