More and more are using bikes now, and it will only get moreso in the future, as we are turned into China. China, and in fact most of Asia, have been using bikes for decades to get around, but as they are getting richer and the US poorer, they are using cars while we are forced to use bikes ! WE need bike paths to stay alive. Those rich folks in their gas hogs don't care about us peons on bikes. Here in Florida people are getting hit and run over on their bikes daily ! Dear Carriet, I agree with your conclusion. We're not talking about bike paths for children. The plan is to cut back on auto traffic and force more of us to ride bicycles or tricyles like they do in China. Of course, everyone can't ride a bicycle, but the Chinese have already figured how to get around that one. It's called rickshaws. Not only will that improve traffic flow, it will add a new industry (rickhaw manufacturing) to the economy. Maybe we'll make bikes again. (If memory seves, the last American bike maker, Schwinn, closed down about a quarter of a century ago.) Maybe the govt can convert it's auto maker to replace the Chevrolet line to making bikes & rickshaws. It's the market of America's future. Rich Martin The Fedl govt gave a quasi-govt agency $250K just to draw up this bike path to be implimented over the next 40 years. We're going to have bike paths where we don't have sidewalks.
