Knowing I am in Texas, a fellow list owner sought my opinion of Gov Rick Perry running for president.
Rick Perry is a nice guy. I 've seen him at TEA Party gatherings, but IMHO, he's not presidential material. First you have to know the govt of Texas was set up after the War Between the States, aka Civil War. After "winning", the North sent ambassadors to replace state governors. In response, Texas changed it's Constitution spreading out the power of the Executive Branch, with Lt Gov being the most politically powerful in the state. Texas may have the Weakest gubernatorial office in the USA. Until George Bush, governors were not permitted to run for a 2nd term. Perry has been on the wrong side of a couple of big issues. most notably the NAFTA Super Hwy. Another was to force all teenage girls to take STDS immunization shots with or without parental permission. I suspect this is a drive by the Evil Forces of socialist-democrats and the Soros controlled media to flatter and elect a weak Republican as a candidate to oppose Obama, ala 2008. I feel the same as I did about GWB. They make good guvs, I voted twice for each for guv. In 2008, "for the first time in my life" I elected not to participate in Obama/McCain Election Day, when TEAM SOROS effectively selected our candidate.
