THE GRASSROOTS TEXANS NETWORK

Fellow Grassroots Texans:

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.  Every Texan interested in countering illegal
immigration needs to CALL RICK PERRY NOW (see below for contact info).

Contrary to what you may have heard from apologists and cheerleaders for the
Texas House Leadership, the 2011 regular session of the State Legislature was
largely a failure when it came to issues of most critical importance to Texans.

The voters of Texas have made clear, time and time again, that Texans demand
action on illegal immigration.

Sadly, the Texas House Leadership refused to listen.

Early in the 2011 Session, thousands of grassroots Texans made clear that they
wanted action on at least three key policies:

WELFARE REPORTING (HB 608) Requiring Texas state agencies to report the cost of
welfare and other benefits provided to illegal aliens
END SANCTUARY POLICIES (HB 12) Providing law enforcement personnel with the
ability to question the immigration status of arrestees and banning so-called
'sanctuary city' policies.
EMPLOYMENT VERFICATION (HB 1275) Requiring that contractors receiving taxpayer
dollars from the State of Texas verify that their employees are working legally.

In every case, the Texas House Leadership dragged their feet on the key bills.
The key bills died without making it to the Governors' desk.

The regular session has ended, but all is not lost.

GOVERNOR RICK PERRY has the power to place all of these bills on the agenda for
the Special Session.

Thus, whether these bills make it on the Special Session agenda is COMPLETELY
UP TO RICK PERRY.
What will RICK PERRY do?  Will RICK PERRY choose to place these critical common
sense bills on the Special Session agenda?

Is RICK PERRY interested in ACTION, or not?  There's only one person who can
answer that question, and his name is RICK PERRY.
