In the past, I’ve read that the BATF were responsible for allowing guns to people who subsequently used them to commit crimes---and not much else. Here’s more of the story. It seems to me that the people involved were wittingly or unwittingly accomplices and/or conspirators to the crimes committed with the guns they permitted to get in the hands of suspected law breakers. IMHO, the current Congressional investigation should be thorough and their unredacted report made public. Further, the person or persons who came up with this birdbrain idea and authorized this insanity be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It goes without saying, if any of the guns are proven to have been used in Mexico , the culprits should be turned over to Mexican authorities. The question is not their good motives but what havoc their actions caused. Good intentions, like ignorance, are no defense for breaking the law.
