It turns out, as long as you are not the Federal Reserve or the democrat party in the US, the answer is quite a bit. The House of Saud, the royal family in charge of Saudi Arabia has a net worth in the neighborhood of a trillion dollars. In addition to being the primary funding source behind Wahhabism and radical Islam, the Saudis have apparently also been using their oil money to disrupt new energy development in the West. The Toronto Sun broke a story on June 17 quoting a Saudi Prince that they did not want the west to develop alternative sources of oil; in this case the oil sands of Alberta. The Ezra Levant column then goes on to describe the environmentalist opposition, particularly the Greenpeace opposition to oil development in Canada and wonders where they are getting their money from. While nobody has yet made a direct connection between Saudi money and anti-energy greens worldwide, it is very easy for them to donate to the international environmental community and the foundations that fund it. Note also that Greenpeace, which Levant implicates in his column has been at the center of the UN IPCC manmade global warming scam, which if implemented, will also keep the Saudis in the energy drivers’ seat for a long time. As always, follow the money. Read the Toronto Sun article here: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/06/17/saudis-have-west-over-a-barrel 2. Diapers. The ugly, discriminatory actions of the TSA continued last week with the patdown of a 95 year old woman who was fresh out of treatment for leukemia in Florida and on her way home to Michigan to die. The TSA took her aside for their special attentions because she was in a wheelchair. During the patdown, they found, much to their shock and horror, that she was wearing adult diapers – depends – and they didn’t know what was inside it. They gave the woman and her daughter the choice of either missing the flight or removing the diaper. Having already checked the bags through and nowhere else to go, the woman decided to remove the filled diaper, which the TSA dutifully inspected. Adult diapers are not an uncommon item for the traveling public, particularly among the elderly and the handicappers. They are very common for infants. Are the new TSA procedures going to require every single person in a diaper to remove it on line and present it and its contents to the agents for inspection? Are they going to refuse people with diapers the ability to board aircraft? You know, there is a reason that people wear diapers, and if they are forced to travel without that protection, the airlines are going to have to change a lot of wet seat cushions on their airliners. The TSA has lost all modicum of decency and common sense. I suppose it is much easier for them to hassle the elderly, the handicappers and the very, very young and their families that it is to actually hassle young Muslim they are actually supposed to be there to stop. But this is what we get when we turn over airline security to the feds. Time to shut down the TSA, as they have become a group of taxpayer paid soon to be unionized, bullies, thugs and goons. 3. Extinction. From the same bozos that gave us the manmade global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions hoax comes their latest and greatest, expressed last week in a breathless article last Wednesday out of McClatchy. The headline went as follows: “Scientists warn oceans’ marine life on ‘brink of extinction.’” The article, which would have been far more at home in the Weekly World News right next to the latest alien abduction or bigfoot story, throws everything including the kitchen sink into the scam. According to McClatchy, the oceans are deteriorating and life within it is well on its way to extinction due to everything from overfishing to manmade global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions. The report came out of the requisite panel of government funded scientists who concocted the latest scare as a vehicle to demand more government as the solution. Yeah, right, that will work. Expect to see more garbage like this as Big Green flails around for the Next Big Thing to replace manmade global warming as their fundraising vehicle. 4. Pensions. General Motors corporate bondholders were not the only ones who got hosed when Obama stole GM from its shareholders and gave it to the UAW. It turns out that pensions disappeared for over 20,000 non-union employees. The decision was made by Tim (Turbo Tax) Geithner and hit GM parts manufacturer Delphi. Note that the GM takeover was structured and funded to prop up UAW pensions and benefits that were well under water financially. This fascist takeover had the Treasury Secretary picking winners and losers, with the union cleaning up at the expense of taxpayers, shareholders, bondholders and non-union employees of GM. Nicely done. 5. WI Supremes. Wisconsin is the gift that keeps on giving, as the left that has lost its power continues to flop around like a trout or salmon on the end of a fishing line. Latest story is an accusation of choking against recently reelected WI Supreme Court Justice Prosser by leftist Justice Bradley. The incident took place almost two weeks ago in Bradley’s office during a discussion about Chief Justice Abrahamson gaming the release of the opinion to uphold changes in union bargaining until after next month’s recall elections. The meeting had the six other justices in attendance and was quite heated. Apparently Bradley jumped up from behind her desk, fists up, and went after Prosser. He put his hand up to fend her off. Another Justice pulled Bradley off Prosser and things cooled down. No charges were filed at the time. Apparently Bradley and Abrahamson decided to use the incident to embarrass Prosser and leaked a charge that Prosser had his hands around Bradley’s neck, choking her and had to be restrained. The charges were made anonymously to a Soros-funded lefty media outfit in Wisconsin that floated the charges late last week. Note that Abrahamson and Bradley are two of the three leftist minority members of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Prosser’s opponent in the recent election, Kloppenberg interned for Abrahamson so things are not going to be pleasant in the court for a while. This is yet another example of what happens when lefties don’t get their way and lose power. It is yet another demonstration that they will do anything possible to retain power and regain it once lost. 6. Bears. Another nice summer up here in Alaska, and with it the latest example of the USF&WS managing fishermen rather than the wildlife. They closed 29 acres of woods between the Sterling Highway and the Kenai River to mitigate human – bear interactions. There is a sow with a couple of cubs hanging around, teaching the cubs to steal fish from the salmon fishermen. This sort of closure has become the rule rather than the exception when bears show up at popular fishing holes managed by the feds over the last decade. Rather than killing the bears and turning them into nice wall hangings or shoe shine rags, the greens infesting the USF&WS do everything possible to maximize the number of bears in close proximity to humans, essentially teaching them not to fear humans. Bears are pretty smart, and soon figure out that they are in charge and start bouncing people off fishing holes, stealing fish on the bank, and teach their cubs to do the same. These federally educated bears are then referred to as “problem bears” and end up eventually being shot and their carcasses dumped in the river when fishermen get tired of the harassment. Much better to shoot them early and avoid all threat of injury. 7. FDA. The latest Nanny State exercise from the FDA is graphic new photos on cigarette packs. The photos are supposed to gross out smokers or wannabee smokers to the point where they no longer want to smoke. They are fairly obnoxious, but no worse than your basic zombie movie. It turns out that this exercise in leftist foolishness is yet another fraud, as all the photos are either photo-shopped or staged with an actor and makeup. Like everything else out of the left, these photos are based upon a lie. Nicely done, guys. What’s next? Decomposing bodies in the grave? Brains? More later - - AG "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776.
