November 22, 2011 - Those old enough to remember the unrest that took place during the Vietnam War remember groups like the Weather Underground and SDS - "Students for a Democratic Society." It seems those groups are back, supposedly by "popular demand," and they have joined with Occupy Oakland. In the 60's and 70's, activists with Weather Underground - an offshoot of SDS - were responsible for at least 30 bombings targeting defense and infrastructure. Among those with the domestic terror group was Bill Ayers, a friend of President Obama who reportedly is now teaching revolutionary theory at Occupy Chicago. In a video posted Tuesday at Poed Patriot, one activist explains the purpose of the group is to "awaken the sleeping giant" - what they call the "99 percent." The activist said the organization seeks a "class struggle" between the "oppressed class" and the "master class." Translation: A class war between those who work to pay taxes and those who choose to take to the streets. He admitted to the interviewer that the group is made up of "socialist, leftists and anarchists." "Not everybody considers themselves a Marxist," he said, adding "but most people consider themselves a leftist in some variety." He added that there are a variety of anarchists - from "green" pacifists to "black bloc" window breakers, and claimed the SDS did not have the "window breakers." "We don't think vandalism is a good strategy for the 99 percent," he said, disavowing the violence that has become a trademark of the Occupy protests. Instead, the group supports marches, picket lines and street theater. The activists added that vandalism and window breaking "scares off" the so-called 99 percent. When asked how he intends to "take from" the one percent in order to give to the 99 percent, he said organizing and mobilizing was the first step, followed by the use of union power. The goal, he explained, is to build a "new structure," but he admitted they had no real blueprint. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few," he replied when asked about the right to own private property. Removal of private property is one of the central tenets of Communism. He went on to excoriate both Democrats and Republicans, and said he voted for Ralph Nader. Given the answers of this activist, it is no wonder the protests have been endorsed by the Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Party USA, and a host of other radical far-left groups. The protests have also been endorsed and warmly embraced by President Obama and Congressional Democrats. It is enough to make one wonder if the protests - now over two months old - are a prelude to the same kind of revolution that brought about the former Soviet Union.
