Energy Secretary Steven Chu Approves of High Gas Prices By Brian Koenig February 29, 2012 http://brianekoenig.com/2012/02/energy-secretary-steven-chu-approves-of-high-gas-prices/ Energy Secretary Chu Admits Administration OK with High Gas Prices http://www.politicalforum.com/current-events/235774-energy-secretary-chu-admits-administration-ok-high-gas-prices.html - - - - There is nothing new about trying to make the US energy industry independent of oil/coal economy. It has been a long time goal of all Americans. It is a wise goal to pursue shared by most Americans that would serve the nation well. Never in our history have we spent so much money to make any such dream become a reality. Trillions have been spent on mucho on multiple programs on converting sunlight to electric power, car engines powered by batteries, wind farms, etc. Failures all. It is note worthy that this has been a mostly Democrat effort which came about after their 2008 electoral landslide victory. The current administration has been shutting down coal/oil producers to force the issue. It isn’t the first time our govt tried to reduce our natioal energy costs. A full quarter of a century ago another president championed a plan to reduce the nation’s energy costs. They went at it from a different angle. The goal was to invent a super conductor that would carry electric power with zero resistance. (Half of all electric power generated at a power plant is lost in transmission.) Both noble endeavors that would serve the nation well. Both had opposition from the other political party. Superconducting Super Collider http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superconducting_Super_Collider The super conductor program was terminated in it’s infancy after a ferocious attack led by the swimmer, AKA, Teddy Kennedy. He argued that the country could not afford both the Space program and ths SCSC.
The Republican Establishment are concerned that conservatives, i.e. the TEA Party, will not support them or the RINOs come Nov. They argue that any of them would be better than their Democrat opponent. Too bad they didn't think of that when they withheld support for Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, Christine O'Donnell, Meg Whitman and Carlie Fiorina. The GOP could've had a majority in the Senate at the very least.
