Vicky Weaver, with her infant tucked safely in her arms, was the sharpshooter's first known victim. Earlier, a US Marshall had machine-gunned down her teenage son while he was walking his dog. Unlike Waco, the USG paid the survivors, including her husband, Randy Weaver, 6-figure court settlements. The perp was not prosecuted; he went on to glory as he continued his killing spree at Mt Carmel in Waco, TX. He's credited with taking out a teenager who climbed into the church bell tower to watch the govt helicopters in action; and again, he escaped prosecution.
