Maybe not knowing why it was being removed, he was insulted when the bust was removed upon his arrival? I can imagine the current Occupant in the White House felt the removal was a subtle message of disaproval from the UK; and when asked, not knowing the truth about the missing bust saying: they didn't take the bust back; I had it sent back.
