1. Unions. Mark Belling of MN filled in for Limbaugh Friday. He interviewed
the author of a book entitled “Shadowbosses: How government employee unions
control America and rob taxpayers blind”, Mallory Factor. Mr. Factor has spent
years investigating the rise of public employee unions and finally put it all
in written form. He said several things that got my attention. First of which
was the reelection of Obama was fueled almost entirely by the unions, which
poured over a half billion dollars into the effort. Along with that, they
supplied over 450,000 “volunteers” for the campaign, mostly in well targeted
get out the vote efforts in swing states. Why were they so supportive? Factor
believes this is entirely in response to what happened to the unions in
Wisconsin, which led to what happened to them in Indiana and then in Michigan –
essentially legislation that prohibits employers from paying union dues for
union members. In Wisconsin,
this has cut union membership and union dues available for democrat campaigns
by 55% in the teachers union alone. And similar moves to go after unions are
underway in Ohio and perhaps in Pennsylvania. Unions are losing the battle at
the state and local levels and need democrats at the national level to support
them. He described ObamaCare not as a health care bill, but as a gambit to
unionize every single health care worker nationwide, likely under the auspices
of Obama’s old union the SEIU. He described the leadership of unions as old,
insular, completely out of touch with their membership, and hard core leftist
in political viewpoint. Essentially he described union leadership here in the
US much like the oligarchs in the old Soviet Union. Unions are an example of a
long outdated, long failing, century old business model; one that is doing
everything humanly possible to preserve itself. This along with the continued
strength of the state run
media are the real lessons of Obama’s reelection. Mallory Factor’s web site
can be found here: http://malloryfactor.com/
2. Gregory. David Gregory, who hosts Tom Brokaw’s old show Meet the Press had
Wayne LaPeirre on a week ago. He intended to browbeat the NRA head about gun
ownership and force him into blubbering and waffling on the air. Being a
veteran of innumerable hostile interviews, LaPierre would have none of that and
held his ground nicely. He also returned fire well. During the interview,
Gregory pulled out a 30-round high capacity magazine for an AR-15 as a prop and
used it to demand the NRA support limits on high capacity magazines. Now
here’s the funny part. As it turns out, that magazine, along with all other
non-.22 caliber high capacity magazines are currently illegal in Washington DC.
Pulling it out of his pocket and waving it around in front of over 10 million
people is a felony act. NBC claims to have asked DC police if they could use
the magazine and reportedly were told no. DC police are reportedly
“investigating” Gregory’s use of the
illegal prop. One of the things the gun grabbers insist upon in their
anti-weapons legislation is that you are guilty of a criminal act via mere
possession of the illegal device. Rather than a more sensible way of writing
law that would bring the hammer down on anyone who uses the device in the
commission of a crime, the gun grabbers seek to turn mere owners into instant
felons while destroying their property rights to use their lawfully purchased
possessions via the mere stroke of a pen. Now Gregory, a loud and obnoxious
member of that mob, has run afoul of the very thing he is demanding congress do
to the rest of the nation. And he and NBC are covering their collective back
sides as fast as they possibly can. It took right wing bloggers to discover
Gregory’s on air felony and report it. It also took right wing bloggers to
find out that Gregory’s kids attend a Sidwell Friends, a private school with a
security detail of 11 people. Many of
those are police officers, which would make them armed. Interesting that the
elite send their kids to schools with armed guards while ridiculing the notion
that we out here in flyover country should do the same thing with our kids in
the public schools. It will be most entertaining to see if Gregory is
prosecuted to the full extent of the law like other mere mortals would have
been.

3. Newspaper. A week ago, the Journal News, a newspaper north of NYC published
an interactive map of gun owners in two counties north of NYC. The publication
and naming of the gun owners is intended to publicly out and embarrass them,
allowing their neighbors to browbeat them into giving up their firearms.
Instead, these media vermin gave a map of unarmed people in those counties to
the local criminal element operating in that part of New York. The reaction to
this invasion of privacy via journalism was loud and outraged. Fortunately,
the right wing blogosphere understands theAlinsky left and are fighting back in
kind. In less than 24 hours, there was a post with personal information of the
editors and reporters working for the Journal News. The posting included
addresses, personal phone numbers, Google maps of their homes, locations of the
schools their children go to, Facebook, and Twitter account information. The
cries of outrage from the
media were instant and loud. The editrix pulled down her Facebook page in
response. Apparently they can dish it out but are not able to take it. The
newspaper plans on publishing another couple maps with more gun owner locations
in over the next week or two. I would expect to see arrest, court, and
financial information for everyone connected to the paper posted on the net as
a response, as the arrest and court information are also publicly available.
The right needs to understand that they must fight back. And in fighting back,
they need to fight to win, as the left, like the Islamists, will never back
off. They must be engaged, defeated and destroyed. You can find the first
round of personal information for Journal News editors and employees listed
here:

4. Seals. Obama’s greens infesting NOAA listed two species of Arctic Ocean
seals – the ringed and bearded seals – as threatened species under the
Endangered Species Act last week. Although the population of ringed seals is
in the millions and population of bearded seals is in the hundreds of
thousands, both were listed as threatened. Reason? Obviously due to the
ravages of manmade global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions melting all
the ice on the Arctic Ocean. Both species of seals are also polar bear food
and protected from all hunting other than that done by local natives. The
State of Alaska blasted the listing as yet another outrageous federal junk
science based attack on oil and natural gas development off its northern shore.
This listing will lead to the designation of new critical habitat offshore
Alaska, which will most certainly be designed to limit oil and natural gas
exploration and production on the outer continental
shelf. And every bit of it is based upon the junk science of manmade global
warming. Note that for the record, even the draft UN IPCC Report 5 leaked a
few weeks ago acknowledges that there has been no overall temperature increase
globally for the last 16 years. They are going to have to speed up a bit to
melt all that Arctic ice. The State of Alaska is considering legal action to
fight the listing of a healthy population. Two days after the local fish
wrapper announced the listing, another local leftwing rag up here, the Alaska
Dispatch, ran an article “Forget global warming, Alaska is headed for an ice
age.” The article was based on the cold start to this winter, with bitter cold
temperatures statewide from Thanksgiving through Christmas. These sorts of
temperatures should be expected given the current La Nina / negative phase of
the Pacific Decadal Oscillation in place. Over the same period, Russia also
experienced a cold start to the
winter with early temperatures -50 degrees in wide areas of Siberia (at -40 it
doesn’t matter if it is measured in Centigrade or Fahrenheit). It’s going to
be difficult to melt all that Arctic Ocean ice with temperatures over the
surrounding land -40 to -50. Perhaps there is a temperature inversion setting
up right at the shoreline. Not.

5. Jackson. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson resigned last week. Excuse given
was the use of a shadow e-mail address so that she could coordinate her actions
with the environmental organizations without the e-mails seeing the light of
day. While important, I believe that there are greater difficulties for Lisa
Jackson. It appears that the EPA has been conducting human testing to
determine how to set levels of exposure to particulates. Essentially the test
subjects are hooked up to a machine and inhale dust while the EPA watches to
see if they get sick and die. Now I thought that human testing was a BAD
thing, something reserved for the CIA, the Tuskegee experiments, Dr. Mengele,
and Nazi experiments at the death camps. Apparently the EPA can get away with
it because they are doing it for the right reasons. Lawsuit was filed in
federal court in September. Note that you have heard nothing about this in any
of the so-called mainstream media which
apparently is in complete support. You can find more information here:

6. Hobby Lobby. The Hobby Lobby went to the SCOTUS with a request for an
exemption against the HHS mandate that all businesses that provide health care
insurance must also provide free contraception. The ownership is Christian,
but the business is secular. The request made it to the Wise Latina, Sonia
Sotomayor, who turned it down on the spot. After her decision, Hobby Lobby
announced they would ignore the mandate, subjecting it to a $1.3 million fine
daily starting Jan 1 while they appeal to the entire SCOTUS. Sotomayor
certainly picks and chooses where to demonstrate her judicial views on
religion, as she ruled in 2003 that denial of a special meal on Ramadan for a
Muslim inmate violated his First Amendment rights to free expression of
religion. Apparently the Wise Latina believes that Muslims have the right to
express their religion and that Christians don’t. Nice to know where we all
stand these days. Otherwise I’d get confused.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better
than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not
your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your
chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our
countrymen."
- Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia
State House, August 1, 1776.
