Linda T. Jones has advice for you.

I have had acouple of sway backs, one from tearing a pre-pubic tendon during preganancy and another from old age, both did fine for riding but neither was cured.

A friend of mine has a horse that is now 30.  Has been swayback for the last 10 plus years.  She rides him two or three times a week--not long, not endurance, but trails and he's still going very strong.

I just bought an old gelding at an auction. I didn't need another horse, it just sort of happened. You know how it is....

Anyway, he appears to be an Arab in his late teens. He has no papers. Gorgeous head. Sweet personality. Nice manners. Sway back. Not as bad as the white horse from the Little Rascals (or was it Our Gang?), but noticable.

What kind of useful future does this guy have? He is so well-broke, I hate to waste him standing around, but I don't want to hurt him. He's such a sweetie.

If he could do LD or CTR with a little kid, I'd be happy. If he can't do that, would pleasure riding be OK? If anyone knows anyone in the Southern Ohio area who would like him, I'll deliver him. I would have to have $350 for him. THat's what I paid.

He didn't even have a name. The horse trader jokingly called him "Come and Go", so David started calling him Gigolo. We have very young students, so that wouldn't do, either. Until I think of something better, he answers to "Jiggs". He seems OK with that.

Thanks everybody,
Maggie--but he followed me home......
David--we don't need another horse!
Jiggs--home at last! The nice lady gives me treats!
