I would suggest a dually. I used to have an 11 1/2'
camper and felt very secure with a dually. We followed friends to Mexico
one year and it was scary following behind them with their camper on a regular
pickup truck.

We just purchased an
S&S camper. It's 8.5' long and 2500 pounds dry weight. It's the "new" kind
that is very tall with the water tanks carried under the floor. We're hauling
with a 95, single cab, 3/4 ton Diesel truck with overload springs. It makes me
nervous to haul it as it's so tall it seems like it would tip over easily in a
wind gust and/or by over correcting. I don't haul horses enough to invest in a
5th wheel, horse trailer/camper combo. What truck is the best/safest for
hauling a camper?
