My arab has filled our some and my Arabian prince western saddle no longer fits. i use it for '"security" when training him and my green mare. Those 180 spins he does occasionally negate me using my wintec2000 outside my riding ring.I use an abetta now on him (endurance model) but it seems a bit too wide.(2 fingers without pad and it may press on his spine with my weight.I am just in training, but after 2hours or so riding these Georgia hills my pad slips back and I have to resaddle, both with my 3/4 wool pad and my toklat. I use a breastplate, always and a crupper, but saddle tends to roll unless I girth him to death and i still use a mounting block or ditch. The wintec 2000 seems to fit well, but too scary for me on the trail. I do take dressage,m jumping lessons, amd am adv. beginner or intermediate rider. I am considering an Australian saddle I'd fit either a 17 or 18. I can't afford a saddle worth more than my horse either. Probably in the 300-600 range.I am watchin ebay and ads for a used or special. My one arab is very shortbacked even for an arab (the vet says). He measures about 21-22 inches from middle of withers to beginning of croup. Only round skirted saddles western style even come close to fitting. My Wintec 2000 does occasionally creep up on his neck after riding in the ring a while. His withers measurement were a tad wider than the regular(medium-- the black bar) gullet. He is built like a barrel on legs opposite of an hourglass. Low withers, 14.21/2 . Any ideas? Thanks Laurie Get more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com |
