In short...YES!

My best friend uses her 1/2 Arab, 1/2 STB for
endurance and has many, many miles, year-end awards,
and BCs on him. My lil' Arab, Charlie Brown, has to
canter to keep up with Fox. There has been many rides
where Charlie cantered MOST of the 50/55/60 miles in
order to stay with Fox.

Usually, Kathy BCs with Fox. However, there has been
a few occasions where Charlie wins the BC. Even when
Fox wins BC, Charlie is usually only a few points
behind him in the BC scoring.

Depending on the environment, Kat and I can do a 50 in
under 5 hours. However, we don't make a habit of that
because we want to keep going down the trails with our
"darlings" and pick our "races" very carefully.

You'll find that just because a horse CAN go fast
doesn't mean you'll want to do that very often. Weigh
your long-term goals and set your priorities before
racing down the trail.
